My childhood can opener
Swing-A-Way Magnetic Wall Can Opener This is the can opener of my childhood. I am 64 and I was thrilled to find this product for sale. It is by far the easiest can opener, manual or electric, for people with any issues of strength or dexterity. I have arthritis and this can opener is truly effortless. It is easy for children to operate. Cleaning is simple since the can opener easily lifts off its base.
Update (5/18/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen.

ONLY FOOLISH PEOPLE USE ELECTRIC CAN OPENERS
Swing A Way is simply the best can opener ever made. Be careful when ordering as some of these Amazon listings are confused and state that it is a wall mount unit when it is actually the hand held portable. Either unit works perfectly well, but the wall mounted one is very convenient and always ready to go. I just replaced my wall unit after 18 years of service and was very happy to find that quality is still excellent and still made in the USA. Please don’t waste valuable electrical energy for such an easy task.

Perfect example of solid, simple reliability!
Truly a classic, and works like a charm. Why bother with another unreliable, counter-hogging electric appliance like an electric can opener when you can have this silent piece of perfection?
Opens can tops like they were made of butter. Seriously, this is the best thing in my kitchen…
